HEALTHY AGING
PLAN

A ROADMAP TO SUCCESS

Upon each visit you will receive a Healthy Aging Plan, where we outline our vision for
your best results and the parameters for how we get there. The Healthy Aging Plan is
our north star, guiding us throughout the process.

FIVE PARTS OF AGING

To replicate mother nature, one must fully understand and respect it. The GoodSkin Method begins with a thorough analysis of your natural genetic qualities - bone, muscle, skin, fat and fascia. This gives us the necessary insight into your aging process and provides a foundation for your entire treatment plan.

Science-Based Diagnosis
The critical first step is the identification and diagnosis of the five parts of aging. Their distinctions can be subtle and our key in replicating mother nature. Here you see the bone, muscle, skin, fat and fascia clearly marked.

Boxes represent bone loss
Dots represent fat loss
Arrows down represent muscles
Squiggles represent skin
Hatching represents fascia

Overall Diagnosis
While Melanie has superb overall bone structure for her age she is experiencing the normal shrinking and notching of facial skeletal bones which is causing descent of her soft tissue (sagging) while also showing areas of volume loss (hollowing). She is prone most to aging of the mid and lower face due to normal changes for age in the bone and soft tissue and she is accelerated in sagging by the downward pulling of her muscles. Her skin has signs of dehydration, texture changes and loss of brightness consistent with sun damage. We worked on a plan for preventing what she is prone to and also improving already weak spots.

Bone
Weak cheekbone causing mid face sagging, weak pyriform complex (bone next to nose) contributing to long upper lip length, notching of lateral jawline angle contributing to jowl formation. All proportionate shrinking normal to age.

Muscle
Medium strength glabella forming frown lines.
Strong down pulling muscles of orbicularis oculi (eyelids), dao (corners mouth), and platysma (neck) contributing to facial jowling.

Skin
Hydration/ fine lines: fine lines around mouth and brows.
History of strong pursing muscles.
Tone/Radiance of skin: Uneven skin tone and dullness consistent with history sun damage.
Texture: dilation of pores and texture changes consistent to age.
See at home skin regimen for home improvement.

Fat
Temple, undereye, and lateral cheek fat pad shrinking normal to age.
Minor fat pad hernations (undereye bags).

Fascia
Loose connective tissue (spanx of the face) of the mid and lower face contributing to facial sagging.
Important to tighten to have optimal results.
Tightening alone will not improve due to other weaknesses in structure.

THE ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
OF BEAUTY

Prevent. Smooth

The skin is the canvas to everything we do is a vital part of the process. We tailor our skin treatments for complex skin types and those suffering from rosacea, atopic dermatitis, hormonal acne, and overly sensitive skin. Laser visits often employ the use of combination laser therapies to maximize effectiveness while minimizing visits and downtime. We work with many modalities including facials, laser treatments, at home skin care from top clinical brands and even red light and stem cell therapy to prevent further skin aging.

Lift. Symmetry. Retrain

Our focus on muscles is to identify muscles that are helping to slow facial aging and improve their strength while also identifying muscles that are pulling down and accelerating facial aging and to weaken those. We also identify asymmetric muscles and work to correct those over time. Our neurotoxing treatments are tailored to each individual muscles. Filler placed correctly can also support strengthening or even weakening muscles.

Restore. Correct. Retain

Our prime focus in clinic practice is overall bone structure which supports soft tissue placement. We work to identify and then correct genetic weaknesses to bone structure and or restore lost bone structure that has occurred over time. Specific more bone like fillers are selected and properly placed to mimic bone. Early intervention with filler modalities at bone structure can also help to retain bone structure which become less dense on women and men with aging.

Plump. Define. Select

Understanding the fat pads of the face and which deflate over time and which can even oppositely inflate overtime is key to our method. We diagnose weak vs overinflated fat pads and work to bring the area to harmony with either heat improving or fat dissolving methods. This is also a cornerstone during our correction work. We use fillers or other bio identical cells (Renuva/sculptra) to restore and lift fat pads while avoiding an overly filled look by our deep understanding of anatomy. We do this by inflating select fat pads and deflating other fat pads so the face is restored to balance while maintaining contour.

Tighten. Lift

Connective tissue is the spanx of the face and another important key to the method. We identify areas of the face and neck where weakness of the connective tissue is relating the the primary symptom - for example could be falling cheek or nasal labial fold. By understanding connective tissue and using tools to improve this we are able to avoid overfilling our patients and educate our patients on which modality will work best for their problem. Our laser treatments for tightening the face/neck are performed at clinical strength levels so to maximize patient results and to minimize the amount of filler we are recommending. Because we are a leader in threads use we can also combine this approach while minimizing the overuse of threads as well.
