How to deal with rosacea and hyperpigmentation

rosacea and hyperpigmentation

Is your skin beginning to show signs of discoloration? Perhaps due to rosacea, or other conditions?

Rosacea can affect anyone. But it's most common in fair-skinned women in mid-life. There's no cure for rosacea, but treatment can control and reduce the signs and symptoms.

If you don’t know exactly what rosacea is, it’s a common skin condition that causes blushing or flushing and visible blood vessels (sometimes called “spider veins”) in the face. It may also produce small bumps, often mistaken for acne. People sometimes think it’s some other skin problem, or just “natural” ruddiness.

We have several treatments at GoodSkin that address hyperpigmentation. Our proprietary Mandelic Peel treatment was created by our founder, Lisa Goodman, who led the highly recognized Acne/Rosacea Center in Santa Monica before opening the GoodSkin Clinics.

We use the Glytone Mandelic Acid Peel (known as the “Red Carpet Peel”) in our treatment. Mandelic acid can treat a variety of sensitive skin issues. It works deeper in the dermis to control inflammatory pathways, which are the root of these problems. It can also target the existing stubborn bumps and cause them to flake away instead of taking weeks to resolve on their own. And we incorporate cryotherapy and LED therapy for further inflammation pathway reduction and to stimulate quick healing and glowing skin. Our Mandelic Acid Peel treatment generally involves three to four treatments about a month apart.

If your goal is reducing brown spots, red blood vessels, uneven pigmentation, or sun damage on your face, consider a photofacial, or IPL.

Our IPL photorejuvenation treatment is an extremely safe and effective treatment for a wide range of skin conditions, including rosacea and age spots. We use the M22 Lumenis, a modern laser with a variety of options available, making it ideal if you have multiple conditions you want treated. It projects an intense pulsed light that stimulates the production of new collagen. The result is smoother skin with a more even skin tone and color.

Our Cosmelan MD Peel is an excellent treatment for problems such as melasma, rosacea, and hyperpigmentation. This chemical peel is world-class, and offers the same benefits of a traditional peel for skin lightening but in half the time. Our Cosmelan MD peel is safe and has little downtime.

Another gentle and safe chemical peel treatment that can help with excess pigmentation is our VI Peel. In addition to treating photodamage from sun exposure, we have used it to treat wrinkles, acne, and large pores, and as a highly effective treatment for acne scars. It is also a wonderful chemical peel for wrinkles and photodamage from sun overexposure. The VI Peel can even be used on the very sensitive area underneath the eyes, and is painless and safe.

Our Client Advocates in our clinics help our clients navigate which treatment or treatments are best for each of them. At GoodSkin, we’re passionate about giving you a fresh, glowing face.
